On Sunday, November 22, 2015, Sisters Tori D’Affair, Gloria LeLuia, Sandra Musique, Lida Christ, Eunice X, and Aspirant John met at the Convent to manifest for the Transgender Day of Remembrance ceremony at St. Paul’s Church in downtown Boston. The Sisters walked to the church from the Convent in the grey misty weather — somber weather for a somber occasion. They arrived just after the ceremony began and aided in greeting the few stragglers who came after. Meanwhile, inside the church, there were many heartfelt testimonies of the loss in the Trans community. On a more cheerful note, the Sisters were each granted a “small act of kindness” by a very lovely stranger who had been anticipating our attendance, gifting each of us a beautiful necklace along with a lovely note. It truly made the Sisters feel blessed to do their work. Toward the end of the service, the Sisters facilitated a collection for Trans equality, following a musical interlude. When the final portion, the candlelight vigil, had concluded, the Sisters thanked the attendees as they departed for their participation and contributions. The Sisters then returned home to the Convent, with Sr. Lida and Sr. Eunice making a quick detour to the Alley bar for an impromptu bucket drive.
