On Monday, August 1, 2011 Novice Sisters Sandra Musique and Teresa Solution met up at Club Cafe to manifest for the monthly charity Drag Bingo hosted by drag queen Constance Waverly. This was the second time the Sisters have joined Drag Bingo to help run the charity bingo. They were met by Aspirant Bimea later as she elected to face up at home. The crowd wasn’t large that evening, but they were generous. The Sisters raised $310 for their charity.
They had intended to raise money for a local artist/performer Aliza Shapiro who had recently suffered a stroke and needed money for medical costs and expenses while she recuperated. Unfortunately since she is not an official charity, she was not eligible to receive winnings from bingo, per Massachusetts’ gambling laws. Instead we decided to donate the winnings to Keshet (http://www.keshetonline.org) a recognized 501(c)3 non-profit organization devoted to helping the LGBT Jewish community. This was a charity that Aliza has worked with in the past and it was fitting that we gave the proceeds to them.
